    What surprised you this month?

    1. From MartaValencia5 Oct

My downstairs neighbour has been leaving lemons on my doormat for three weeks. No note. I started leaving things back. We’re up to a jar of honey and a paperback, and we still haven’t spoken.

I passed my driving test at 34, on the fourth attempt. The examiner just said “right then,” which I’m choosing to take as praise. Nobody let me drive in 2015 and I now see that was correct.

    3. From PriyaMelbourne9 Oct

I like running now. Not the running itself, more the bit after, when I buy a cardamom bun and feel I’ve earned it. Did 10k on Sunday. Spring is here, the magpies are swooping, and I’ve never moved faster.

Sam asked Hana: “Did the bees survive the move?”

    Hana Ghent

All of them. Mostly. The queen is fine, which is what matters, and the neighbours have stopped closing their windows.

Also writing this time: Sam, Inés, Theo, Ola, Kofi. Next questions go out Sunday 25 October.

This is what lands in everyone’s inbox. The names and replies here are an example.

Slow on purpose. Never left on read.

A circle runs on a simple rhythm. You set it once, and SinceThen carries the post.

      One newsletter arrives

SinceThen gathers every reply into a single newsletter and sends it to the whole circle. Past newsletters stay on the web to reread.

    Stories don’t stop halfway.

Want to know how something turned out? Ask about any reply in one tap. Your follow-up goes to them with the next round of questions, and their answer opens the next newsletter.

Jonas asked Marta: “Did you and the neighbour ever actually speak?”

    Marta Valencia

We finally spoke. Her name is Carmen, and the lemons come from her sister’s tree.

    What fits in a letter

Everything worth telling, and none of the pressure to answer right now. Replies are read when the newsletter lands, not the minute they’re written.

    Before you invite anyone

What people usually ask before sending the first questions to their mother, or to friends they haven’t written to in years.

    Does everyone need an account?
Yes, but it takes about a minute and there’s nothing to install. Each person gets an invite by email, picks a name and a password, and replies in the browser on their phone or computer.
Who can see what I write?
Only the people in your circle. Newsletters sit behind sign-in and are emailed only to members, and there are no public links. Other members read your reply when the newsletter goes out, not before. Members never see each other’s email addresses.
Can I reply to what someone wrote?
Yes, just not instantly. Ask a follow-up on any reply. If they answer, it arrives with the next newsletter.
    What if someone doesn’t reply?
The newsletter goes out at the deadline with whoever answered. Anyone who hasn’t replied gets one gentle reminder the day before, and the newsletter never lists who skipped.
    Is it free?
Yes. Starting and running a circle is free. There’s no paid plan.
Can I leave or delete my replies?
Yes. You can leave a circle any time from its page, and you’ll stop getting its letters. You can delete an answer until that newsletter goes out. After that it’s already in everyone’s inbox, so it stays. You can also delete your account from Settings, which removes your answers and photos.
How many people can join a circle?
There’s no set limit. Invite as many people as you’d want a letter from.

Everyone’s been up to something. Ask them.

Start a circle, invite them by email and choose the first questions. It’s free.
